The Coral Gables Art Cinema directly across the street at 260 Aragon. The Miracle Theatre one block north on the mile itself. Add the Biltmore's Wolfson Family Theatre a short drive west and the entire fall arts calendar of downtown Coral Gables sits inside a four-block radius that most residents already walk on a Saturday morning.
The interesting story this season is not that these venues exist. It is that the two anchors have quietly changed at the same time. One got a new name. The other announced a season built around a Tony-winner it will import for the first time. Read together, they reframe what a Thursday or Saturday night looks like on Miracle Mile — and expose which reservations you actually need to make now.
The Renaming That Actually Matters This October
The 2026-27 season is the first presented under the newly dedicated name of the Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Stein Center for the Performing Arts, the historic Miracle Mile venue that has been home to Actors' Playhouse since 1995, when the company partnered with the City of Coral Gables to transform a beloved Art Deco movie palace into one of South Florida's premier performing arts institutions. The address on the marquee has not moved. The company remains at 280 Miracle Mile. What has changed is the frame.
The 2026-27 season opens October 7 with Jekyll & Hyde, the Broadway gothic musical thriller with music by Frank Wildhorn and book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novella. The season closes with the return of a musical revue the theatre first produced in 1998. I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change runs July 14 through August 8, 2027. The musical revue, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, was first produced at the Miracle Theatre in 1998, ran for a full year, and returned the following season by popular demand.

Single tickets go on sale August 1. The subscription runs five productions. Divide it out and the seat cost per show sits below what a single dinner for two costs two blocks away.
What GableStage Booked Against It
The Biltmore's resident company took a different route. GableStage's 2026-27 season features five productions including the Tony Award-winning Liberation. Two of the earlier slots read like counter-programming to the mile:
- True Art by Jessica Provenz, directed by Bari Newport. Opening November 21, closing December 20, 2026.
- We Had A World by Joshua Harmon, directed by Stuart Meltzer. Opening January 23, closing February 14, 2027.
All productions are performed indoors at GableStage Theatre Company's Wolfson Family Theatre, located at the historic Biltmore Hotel. The parking note is not trivial for weeknight planning. Theatre parking is available in the West Lot of the Biltmore Hotel. That single logistical fact is why GableStage tends to be the easier Tuesday commitment for a Coral Gables resident than the Miracle Mile venues, where street parking sets its own tempo.

It sits directly across the street from Books & Books, in the heart of downtown Coral Gables, and opened on October 15, 2010 after more than two years of construction.
The 141-seat number is the constraint. A single sold-out National Theatre Live broadcast fills the room. The cinema's National Theatre Live program broadcasts the best of British theatre from the London stage to the cinema at a fraction of the cost of a stage play. On a Saturday when the Stein Center has 600 seats to fill and GableStage has its own capacity, a Cinema screening can be the hardest ticket in the four-block radius.
Two operational details for the fall calendar. The Miami Film Festival's GEMS runs October 29 through November 5, and the main Miami Film Festival is scheduled April 9-19, 2026. Museum Garage at 220 Aragon Ave charges $2.00 per hour, with validation available inside the theater. Residents who plan around GEMS week should treat those seven days as an implicit blackout window for casual walk-up seating.

The dining landscape within walking distance of the Stein Center has quietly rebuilt itself over the last twelve months, and the fall calendar is the payoff.
Casa MX, a contemporary Mexican restaurant inspired by Mexico City and the ritual of gathering at home, opened January 24 at 2345 SW 37th Ave inside a former home. The 2,800-square-foot space unfolds across a 52-seat patio, a 12-seat bar and multiple dining rooms. It is a five-minute drive from Miracle Mile and sits closer to the Biltmore than to Aragon, which makes it the natural pre-GableStage room.
For the Cinema and Stein Center side, Zuccaly, the Gables' first Italian food hall, debuted at the Plaza Coral Gables with six food stations across 8,000 square feet. The address is 111 Palermo Ave, Suite 112. The format solves the specific problem of a pre-theater dinner clock, since seatings turn faster than a traditional sit-down room.
The third option is a long-running Alhambra Circle name in a new form. Marcelo Chopa reopened under the name Casa Vialetto at 267 Alhambra Circle, after Caffe Vialetto closed on August 17, 2025 after 26 years in business, serving inventive Italian cuisine to longtime customers. The new space is smaller than the original, with about 45 to 50 seats. That seat count is the number to hold in mind. On a Friday when the Stein Center has 600 patrons filing out at 10 PM, a 50-seat room three blocks away is not a walk-in proposition.
The Fall's Real Constraint
The headline story about the Stein Center rededication is the name. The operational story is capacity. Between them, the Cinema's 141 seats, GableStage's Wolfson Theatre, the Stein Center's 600-seat mainstage, Casa Vialetto's 50 seats, and a rotating slate of free Books & Books events add up to a fall calendar where the binding constraint is not price and not what to see. It is when you book.
Residents who treat October and November as a single planning window rather than two separate months will get the schedule they want. Those who wait until Thanksgiving to think about the December calendar will find the smaller rooms already spoken for.
